Home education is the oldest form of education. The school system as we know it is actually fairly new.

It is done under the guidance and the direction of parents. They can choose to do certain things themselves, but they can also collaborate with family, other families or tutors.

Most of the education happens at home, but is by no means limited to the home. Some families move around. Sometimes the children are often at the home of family or friends, or at the business.

Parents determine the contents and skills they transfer to their children in line with their religious convictions and values.

The school is supposed to be an extension of home education, because you will often hear educational experts say that teachers are acting "in locis parentis", meaning in the place of parents. Home education is not the recreation of school in a home.
